Life isn’t always smooth sailing. Sometimes, your character will face challenges that test not just their body, but their mind and spirit. In Everlife Generations, struggles like Addiction, Chronic Illness, and Mental Health Conditions are systems that shape your story, force tough choices, and open paths to resilience and recovery.
Addictions: Coping or Spiraling?
When life gets stressful, some characters will reach for unhealthy coping mechanisms. From cigarettes to late-night drinks, these small habits can spiral into dependencies if left unchecked.
The Base Game features four core addictions:
🚬 Nicotine
🍷 Alcohol
💊 Numbitol (anxiety medication)
💊 Focusyn (stimulant medication)
Every addiction has its own severity level, starting small but naturally growing worse over time. Mild Addictions might feel manageable, but Severe Addictions bring intense cravings, mental strain when resisted, and fallout in relationships and careers. Ignoring the problem won’t make it go away.
Thankfully, treatment is always an option. Characters can check into rehab programs that lower addiction severity, from modest reductions to major breakthroughs. Kick the habit completely and you’ll get that satisfying “cured” moment... though it may come at the cost of wealth, time, or relapse risk.
Conditions: The Curveballs of Life
Health is unpredictable, and Generations embraces that reality. Characters can develop over 30 new conditions, from everyday struggles like ADHD 🧠, Asthma 🫁, and Dyslexia 📖 to life-altering diagnoses like Autism 🧩, Bipolar Disorder 🎭, Epilepsy ⚡, or Schizophrenia 😨.
Conditions begin with vague symptoms. Frequent headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath… all of these may be clues that something deeper is going on. To uncover the truth, your character will need to visit the doctor, get tested, and receive an official diagnosis.
Once revealed, conditions evolve over time. Some are chronic but manageable, others progress if untreated, and a few (like cancer) require aggressive treatment through surgery or chemotherapy. Every diagnosis changes the rhythm of life. Your plans might shift, your wealth may drain, and your relationships could be tested.
Hospitals, Doctors & Treatments
To support these new systems, Generations introduces a full hospital service hub. Here, your character can:
🩺 See a Doctor – Get conditions diagnosed and choose from treatment options, complete with medication side effects to consider.
💬 Start Therapy – Support mental health and tackle underlying issues in recurring sessions.
🏥 Enter Rehab – Commit to overcoming addictions at varying levels of severity.
💊 Begin Treatments – Manage prescriptions, surgeries, and other life-saving interventions.
Treatment isn’t guaranteed to be smooth... side effects and lifestyle impacts all come into play. But with persistence, characters can beat back illness, manage lifelong conditions, and even emerge stronger than before.
