Hi everyone! After months of pouring my heart and soul into development, it's time to share what’s been brewing behind the scenes. I'm starting a weekly devlog series for Everlife Generations, where I'll share all the exciting new ways your characters will come to life. This week, I'm absolutely thrilled to dive into the new Career System!
New Paths to Success
The Deluxe Edition includes 25 career paths—that’s 250 unique jobs to pursue! From Competitive Gamer 🎮, to Military Officer 🪖, to Wellness Guru 🧘, to Theater Star 🎭, the system is designed to reflect the diversity of real working lives and the challenges that come with them.
Every single career scenario has been rewritten and expanded, with entirely new situations added to make your character’s working life feel alive. A stage actor might juggle last-minute auditions and backstage rivalries, while an engineer faces tight deadlines and breakthroughs in the lab.
Work Performance: A New Life State
Generations introduces a brand-new life state: Work Performance.
In school, this stat reflects your grades.
Once you enter the workforce, it measures your performance on the job.
High Work Performance opens doors to raises and promotions, while Low Work Performance can get you demoted, denied opportunities, or even fired outright. It’s a stat that ties your seasonal choices directly to your career trajectory, making effort and ambition feel more important than ever.
Climbing the Ladder
Careers now feature 10 ranks instead of just five, so climbing from entry-level grunt to seasoned expert feels longer, deeper, and more rewarding. But the ladder isn’t automatic anymore.
Promotions require:
Skills
Industry Experience
High Work Performance
Raises and promotions interact with a new salary system. Raises increase your base pay, while Promotions apply multipliers, so consistency pays off just as much as ambition.
Your Resume, Reimagined
The careers menu has been overhauled to double as your resume, recording every job you’ve held across your character’s life. Whether you stick to one path or bounce between industries, you can now look back at your entire professional story and see how far you’ve come.
Interviews: No Job is Guaranteed
Getting a job in Everlife Generations is no longer automatic. Every application now goes through the new Interview Minigame. Ace the interview and the role is yours. Fail, and you’ll need to regroup, build skills, and try again. Success feels earned, and failure adds extra drama to your story.
More than a Paycheck
Careers aren’t just a grind for cash. They’re a core narrative driver, shaping your financial stability, influencing your daily choices, and creating branching events that ripple through your character’s relationships and legacy. Want to coast? You can, but expect stalled promotions and missed opportunities. Want to push yourself to the top? Balance Work Performance, skills, relationships, and lifestyle... and maybe sacrifice a few late nights for the grind.
Next Week
Stay tuned for next week’s devlog, where I’ll be diving into Addictions, Treatments & Conditions, new systems that bring even more depth, unpredictability and challenge to your characters’ lives.
Everlife Generations WHEN?!
As for release timing: I know everyone is eager to play Everlife Generations. I’m working as hard as I can as a solo dev, but I still need a few more months to get it to the level of polish it deserves. I don’t want to throw out a fake date or make promises I can’t keep, so for now the best way to stay updated is through these devlogs, Discord, and Twitter. I promise I’ll announce the official release date the moment I know it.
Thanks so much for your patience as I bring Everlife Generations to life. I couldn’t do it without your support!
See you soon,
— Phil
